I know we are already in the 4th month of the year, but with the weather getting warmer and nicer travel blooms, too. In this bucket list you’ll find some offbeat destinations, and also my travel ‘resolutions’ for this year.
This year, by far, I went to the Netherlands again, and made a second visit to Zurich. I have so many other destinations planned! Today I will share some of them with you in case you’re looking for some travel inspo for your 2018 bucket list.
Do a Roadtrip
My ultimate road trip itinerary is crossing the US, but since I am now focusing on really budget-friendly traveling I’ll leave this for the future. What I planning, tho, is doing a road trip here on the Balkans. Countries here have so much to offer and are very budget-friendly. I am currently thinking about exploring Montenegro and Croatia.
Go Wild Camping
I know wild camping is forbidden in some places, so you should do your research here! I wish to go camping in the wilderness of Norway some day, exploring the fjords. But since I’ve been camping once on a official campsite, I must gather some experience first. That’s why I am planning on going camping here in Bulgaria. Our nature is just as beautiful and I can’t wait for summer to come and to wake up in the mountains.
It is no secret that exploring a country includes exploring its cuisine, too. By far most of my trips were focused on sightseeing and cultural landmarks. This year I hope to be able to do a short budget trip, the focus of which will be traditional food. Just find a country whose cuisine you might like and go for it!
Explore Offbeat And ‘Fairy Tale’ Destinations
I know there aren’t that many ‘secret’ places that come to mind. Nowadays you can see tourists everywhere, but with proper research you might be lucky. Try looking for smaller towns in the well-known countries, like France and Italy, or opt for less-touristic Eastern Europe or the Baltic countries (speaking Europe travel).
Visit An Island
I’ve never been on an island (apart from the UK which is a pretty big one), so I’m very eager to visit one! I would love to go on a tropical island in the Indian ocean or in the Caribbean sea, or somewhere near Australia, but as I said I am now focusing on nearby destinations. I have one small, not so popular place in mind, so I will let you know if things go as planned!
I love everything Christmas related, especially a good Christmas market! Since last Christmas was the worst for me, I want to make up for it this year. Cologne, Amsterdam, Vienna and Prague are said to have on of the best Christmas markets in Europe, and hopefully I will see for myself.
This bucket list turned out to be more of a travel ‘to-do’ list, but these are all experiences I see as a must do for every traveler.
